What we do
Fundamental Fitness & Movement
Staying active is crucial for people with MS. Our fitness and exercise programs are designed to promote physical fitness, improve balance, enhance muscle strength and gain confidence. We offer a variety of exercise options, ensuring that everyone can find a program that suits their needs and abilities. Discover how our fitness and exercise initiatives can contribute to your overall health.
Seated Exercise
Our Seated Exercise classes are led by a qualified instructor and offer gentle yet enjoyable workouts. These sessions promote joint mobility and increase circulation through equipment assisted stretching and toning. Suitable for all ages and capabilities, our classes encompass cardio, resistance, and mobility exercises. Various pieces of equipment are introduced to stretch and tone and a relaxation and cool down session is built in too.
Classes
Discover our accessible exercise classes across Morpeth, Durham, and Newcastle, catering to all individuals affected by MS. In Morpeth, classes are available throughout the week at Benmar House. Classes include everything from yoga to relaxation, fall prevention to seated exercise.
Bikes & Cycling
Our Motomed exercise bikes offer versatile seated or wheelchair-based workouts and are useful in relieving muscle spasms and providing tailored exercise options. Choose between passive, motor-assisted, or active resistive training, utilising your muscle strength. These bikes ensure smooth and controlled movements, resembling actual cycling. They are particularly well-suited for individuals with MS, enabling exercise and muscle stimulation regardless of limited mobility, enhancing overall well-being and physical function.
Pilates
Pilates is a set of exercises designed to elongate, strengthen and restore the body’s balance. Classes focus on specific areas individually whilst using exercises that integrate the whole body to re-educate and restore it to optimum muscular and skeletal function.. For those with MS, it offers gentle yet effective exercises to enhance posture, balance, strength, and relaxation, fostering social connections. Our Pilates classes aim to alleviate MS symptoms through repetitive, gentle stretches, promoting well-being and improved physical function.
1-1 Personal Training
Our one-to-one exercise sessions, available by appointment, cater to individual needs, led by a qualified instructor. These personalised sessions address specific areas of concern, fostering confidence and gradual mobility improvement. You’ll benefit from expert guidance and exercise at your own pace allowing you to work toward your fitness goals with dedicated support in a comfortable setting.
Vibrogym
The Vibrogym is a powerful muscle-strengthening tool that engages multiple muscle groups simultaneously. Using vibration technology, it enhances circulation and positively impacts hormone balance, stress levels, and muscle strength. The Vibrogym transmits vibrations to the body, e ectively working on nearly all muscles at once. These vibrations promote blood flow, muscle warmth, and aid in the body’s recovery process.
